Dwarf Fortress - A Free Application For Windows

Dwarf Fortress is a unique and challenging game. It features a randomly generated world with unique creatures, resources and maps. The gameplay is very deep and requires a lot of patience. There is also a steep learning curve.

Dwarf Fortress is available on Steam. You will need to sign up for a Steam account to play.

There are four modes to choose from. Fortress mode is the most popular. Here you can assign a priest to help you with your fortress. Alternatively, you can choose a challenge mode.

In the adventure mode, you will control a single character in a big, wide world. You will have to build a fortress, train dwarfs and protect them from monsters. This will include petitions for temples and guildhalls.

In the premium version, you can assign tasks to more qualified workers. Also, you no longer have to place construction materials yourself. Your dwarves pick up their equipment as they need it.

There are new and improved hotkeys. The UI has been updated to a larger zoomed-in view.

You can now see more details on your dwarves. Their status bubbles are now more detailed. Previously, you had to guess their status. A green or yellow icon indicates that your dwarves have the right equipment.

You can now use a mouse to hover over a cell and read its description. If the cell is in red, it means your dwarves have not picked up any equipment yet.
